What is a good hair salon to go to in Staten Island, NY?

I need a hair cut and highlights i dont want to go somewhere with bad service and bad additudes. What is a good hair salon to go to in Staten Island, NY?
What I tell my clients who are leaving the state is either look in the phone book or on line for a salon that carries top of the line products. Matrix, Paul Mitchell,Bed head, Joico, etc, etc, I think you probably know some other top names. Then make an appointment for a consultation, nothing else. Scope the place out....check to see if they keep their products clean, floors swept, etc etc. Then most important see if you like the stylists there. Do they get along with each other or can you feel tension. See if the stylist you get is on the same page as you. Does she make eye contact with you, is she giving you the time of day, etc. That is the only way you are going to find someone. BTW, do this before you are in need of services and you sound like you are in need. Just follow what I said and wait until you find someone you like. Good luck and God blessWhat is a good hair salon to go to in Staten Island, NY?
Honeybee took my answer. Funny how she keeps doing that.

Any hair salons in Mt. Airy (Pennsylvania)?

Ok, so i need my hair retwisted in a week, and i just moved over here and i dont know where anything is and I'm wondering where i can find a salon. My stepmom is being a butt and so i need the number address and name so i can make an appointment because, again, though i am only 14, she wants me to do this all by myself! Does that seem just? Or am I just lazy?Any hair salons in Mt. Airy (Pennsylvania)?

    NYC Hair Salons?

I'm looking for a CHEAP ($50 or less) hair salon in NYC. I'm from Texas so I'm used to using salon chains like visible changes or mastercuts, but can't seem to find anything like that in NYC. Any advice would be great. Thanks!NYC Hair Salons?
Try one of the Dominican salons. You can find them uptown like in Washington Heights, Harlem, or the Bronx (and other places too). Your money will go very far and they do a great job with all hair types and all types of chemical treatments, color, cuts, styles, etc.

They usually only take walk-ins (no appointments). But they are very efficient and will have you out of there within an hour. The average price is $20-30 depending on the length of your hair.

Black hair salons near Hyde Park, Chicago?

i am new to the area, and i need someone that can do three things: 1) i have coarse hair and a sensitive scalp - i need someone who can straighten well and knows how to deal with really thick hair 2) i also need someone that can ROLLER SET and i mean really, really well!, and 3) i need someone that uses good products and has good technique (not just cheap shampoo and a rinse out conditioner and no other leave in conditioners, etc).

if you know of anyone who can do these things, PLEASE let me know the person, salon and price!Black hair salons near Hyde Park, Chicago?

What are the negatives of opeing a hair salon?

Mainly, money issues tend to be the reason many salons fail. You must make enough earnings to rent a space, pay all utility bills, pay to keep retail and professional supplies stocked, pay for insurance, pay your employees... and many, many other things. After all these cuts are made, a lot of salon owners realize they have made no profit. Typically, the first couple years of running a salon are not profitable, and this is discouraging to many salon owners. If there is a lot of competition in the area, becoming successful is even harder, because if things are not going well in your salon, clients may begin to stray, as well as your stylists if they think there are better opportunities out there. However, if you have a good strategy, patience, a flair for advertising, a group of loyal stylists willing to share this adventure, and a decent amount of money to start, it is possible to become a success. It just takes a lot of hard work, and many owners realize (too late) that they are not cut out for it.What are the negatives of opeing a hair salon?
if you mess up on anybody no one will ever go there.. also competition, i can only imagine, after going into some of these salons your gonna have to spend some big bucks decorating and remodeling it.What are the negatives of opeing a hair salon?
you have to touch old people.

ok, so i want to get a hair cut because my hair is really blah right now, so i asked my mom and she said find a place that is close, and have low prices, and i don't want my hair to look cheap, so if it is too much to ask, my main question is if anyone knows where there is a hair salon in orange CA, that do nice haircuts for low prices, that would be great! just answer this question a soon as possible!:) thanxCheap hair salons in orange, CA?
hahahaaCheap hair salons in orange, CA?
    Just go to mapquest.com
I actually work in Orange, Ca.....well I'm not working now because I'm having surgery Wed.....but cheap is cheap'

As the saying goes you get what you pay for and what do you consider a low price.

The chain salons are usually cheap, but then you never know what you'll get.....as many stylists move on once they get some experience.

Where I work there are only 3 of us, the owner who is always busy, her sister, who's a bit** and me, and I'm out for now. I wish I could help you out personally....it would be interesting to meet someone in person and I'm good.

    Here's a few that I know of

Platinum Strands (used to be Eastside) on E. Chapman

Bushire, on Katella, between Glassell and Tustin

I can't remember the name of the other salon. It's in the same center with Bushire......There's a Maly's Beauty supply that I go to and I asked one day about the different salons there and they said they were actually all good. If you called Maly's and asked them the names of the other 2 salons you could find out.

I'm not sure on the price of any of them, so it's best to call and find out. And I'm not sure exactly where in Orange you live, but these are ones I know are good
look for a great clips !

    Alternative hair salons?

Does anyone know of any alternative hair salons (like emo, punk and scene hair salons) in the New York City area, like near Queens? ThanksAlternative hair salons?
srry I dont live in new york but thanks for answering mine!!Alternative hair salons?
I'm sure you don't have to go to a ';specific'; hair salon to get a punk/emo/scene hair cut. I'm sure any salon will do what you ask for. They do go to school for that type of thing. :)
im sure any salon will do that as long as its not like ';Fantastic Sams'; or ';Super Cuts'; go to something like ';Glitz'; because they are properly trained unlike the first two i mentioned :) and ';Fantastic Sams'; and ';Super Cuts'; cant do layers or anything but a blunt cut. i tried to get face framing layer and it didnt work out at all, i have uneven CHOPPY layers in the front and i tried to get side swept bangs and they dont sweep across my forehead, they are just normal hair just a few inches shorter :) good luck
    actually

    i went to supercutes

and i got an awesome haircut that framed my face

but i dont think you would have to go anywhere special for that.
i think you could go to any good hair salon and just tell them what kind of hairstyle you want i doubt there any special ones for emos , punks cause most punks its just a mohawk haha DIY do it yourself is considered real punk.

    Biracial hair salons?

does anyone know a good salon that has people with experience with biracial hair in Chicago? help please!!!Biracial hair salons?
you are better off just going to a black salon. They would know more about what to do with your hair than a white girl. Dont just walk in and let them go to town on your hair. Always ask for a consultation first. Tell them about your hair and what you want done. Look at pics of their work. If you liek what you see then take it from there.Biracial hair salons?
My best experiance is to go to an ethnic stylist. I'm sorry I don't live there to tell you who but I'm sure you can find someone easily. I used to work at JcPenney Salon and there is are all types of stylist.

I would say their not. I know that I'm closed today. Most salons in my area are closed every Mon. and open on Tues. thru Sat. Since it's a holiday, I would say that most are closed. You might check with a chain, like the ones in Wal-mart, or super cuts. Sorry, I hope it's not a hair emergency! Are hair salons open today?
most are closed in less its in a Mall...or if you have an apt already....but most are closed where I live and I'm in a big city in Cali
It would be easier and faster than waiting for people to answer on here to simply get out a phone book and try calling salons in your local area. Although, considering today is a national holiday, no, most salons will not be open.

What type of education do i need to own a hair salon in florida?

do i need a business degree or something? and how much money would i need? i know i need to get my license but i need to know soon. i just graduated from high school and i want to get my career going but its hard because everyone i ask doesnt know.

and they're always putting me down, my parents want me to be a doctor or a dentist but that won't make me happyWhat type of education do i need to own a hair salon in florida?
There are actually very few (if any) qualifications officially required to open or run most businesses. You pretty much hang out your shingle, register the business with your state, and you're ready to go.

You stand to benefit from training in the field, either at college or while working in a salon. If you work in a salon, make it known to the owner that you'd like to start your own one day and ask that they teach you the ropes of taxes, inventory, payroll, licensing, hiring/firing, and so on. If you're going to make mistakes while you learn, it's better that it's at someone else's company, not your own. What type of education do i need to own a hair salon in florida?
Go to college to get a degree in accounting. Then your options are endless!

(Your parents are right - college is a better choice for a good future. A Hair salon by itself is quite risky)

Is it normal at hair salons.......?

for the barber to put their thumb on top of your head and push down with force when they cut your hair?Is it normal at hair salons.......?
I have seen them do that but not with force.

Tell them if you don't like it, I would.

Your paying them, they are working for you....Is it normal at hair salons.......?
Maybe for them........ I've never had an experience like that or seen it at a salon. The only thing I can think of is maybe they're new and that was a method that they learned in training to make sure to get a straight cut.
A lot of barbers and stylists do that because they deal with a lot of people who move their heads a lot and you have to keep perfectly still when they're cutting your hair.
probably not, but hahahahahaha, dude, thats hilarious, hahahaah
I Think It Is Because there Are Rules For Them To Wash Their Hands And Sanitize Themselves

What are your thoughts on Salon hair products?

I personally think that it is worth the money. But I have noticed that sooooo many people use cheap brands. When I try cheap shampoos and conditioners my hair is HORRIBLE!What are your thoughts on Salon hair products?
Definately worth the money. Just like the phrase ';you only get out what you put in'; it's the same with products and tools as well. Take a look at Rene Furterer products. The ';Rene'; line uses all natural plant extracts and believes that healthy hair starts at the scalp. Take a look:

Bring an example picture to the hair salon?

I was going to bring a picture of the hair style I want to the lady that does my hair. But I'm a little nervous that she'll critisize the hair style I want, or that I'll look stupid for bringing a picture. (I'm very self-conscience...) Advice or help?Bring an example picture to the hair salon?
Don't be nervous. She might tell you if she doesn't think it's going to look right but I would trust her because she's a professional hair stylist and she knows what she's talking about. But don't be nervous. :)Bring an example picture to the hair salon?
Hey, its you who wants the hair style not her =DD

You should b confident in what you want,

Every time i go to the hairdressers i always bring a picture to show what i want =DD

My hairdresser doesn't critisize.. for the hairstyle i choose or for bringing a picture =DD
    Thats what i thought.

But then i said to myself.

I REALLY want a good haircut.

So i printed out about 10 pictures circling pieces from the haircuts i wanted.. like in one i liked her bangs so i circled them and so on.

Everybody in the studio was walking by looking at my pictures and i thought they were judging me and they were talking in Turkish.. turns out they were all saying how they liked the haircut and thought it would great on me :]

But pretty much, who cares what they think.. what matters is that you will be leaving with the haircut you want.
No need to be nervous! Tons of people bring pictures to the hair salon, and if they don't BRING one, most salons have books with hairstyles in the waiting room, and the person will just bring the whole book back to the stylist!

No worries, hun! Especially if you want your hair to look great, go for it! :)
    Most people bring example pictures.

    Whats more important

What the people think (which they won't care)

    or

    getting an awesome haircut

Also, if your hairstylist cristizes your haircut, she/he is obviously not someone you'd want to cut your hair.
i bring a pic all the time. she wouldnt critisize unless she really doesnt want you to be her customer and if she does say something its usually meant to help like oh that might look better if that was shorter or something like that. once again i bring pics all the time its completely ohkay. that way you know youll get exactly what you want.
Yeah i say go ahead and bring the picture that u want her to cut .. who frickin cares what she thinks i meann ur paying her to cut ur hair not critizise and if she does just ignore her or whatever and dont tip her if shes mean to u but i brought a picture when i got a hair cut
Nah, don't worry about it- I do it all the time.

Plus, you picked it out, so her criticizing it would be kinda rude. She's just supposed to cut your hair not be your guidance counselor here!
i've never had any luck doing that, they said my hair wasn't ';right'; for that kind of style!!! :(
Taking in a picture is an excellent idea. Be open to the fact that your stylist may advice against certain styles depending on your face shape (a good hairstylist wants her clients to look good). If she feels that particular style won't work with your face shape, she may be able to modify the look into one that you like. If your hairstylist makes you feel stupid for your choice, perhaps it is time to find a new stylist.
i'm sure she wont make fun of your hair style that you want......she prolly sees plenty of different styles. and a lotta people take in pictures of what they want to their hairstylist, that actually helps them out w/ how to cut your hair. Good Luck!!!

What is the difference between a ';dominican'; salon and a traditional hair salon? Suggestions for Atlanta?

no clue that there was any difference to doing hair from one place to the otherWhat is the difference between a ';dominican'; salon and a traditional hair salon? Suggestions for Atlanta?

Best of luck!Anybody know of a good chinese hair salon in San Diego?
there is not a large population of chinese in San Diego, not like San Francisco. There are however a lot of Vietnamese. Try driving up and down university avenue and el cajon avenue. I think there are a lot of vietnamese shops just east of the 15 freeway on those streets.

    Also try mira mesa area.
i dont think the race or nationality of the person that cuts your hair makes them any better at it . if they cut good they could be pink with purple polka dots. hows about trying out super cuts? they guarantee their work!!

    What about the Boulderado Hotel?

What's the difference between store bought and salon hair dye?

Besides price and variety in colour, is there really any difference?

Also, is it true that certain colours could cause harm (like black and light blonde) while others (like reds and browns) are safe? What's the difference between store bought and salon hair dye?
    It's not hair ';dye';, it is hair ';color';

Usually the salon stuff is higher quality. That's pretty much it.

All hair colour can cause harm. You are putting strong chemicals on your head. Hair colour can cause cancer and birth defects. What's the difference between store bought and salon hair dye?
Yes, there is a difference. Hairdressers mix your colour up to suit your hair type and the shade of colour that you'd like to have. Quite often you will receive a mix of colours to achieve the shade you desire on your hair.
    deffinatley the operator.......trust me
salon hair dye last longer and is usually a much different quality to store hair dye. also, you cant buy salon hair dye in shops
I took Cosmetology in High School. As far as chemical;s there is no difference. While the products offered at the store are getting better with the choices, a salon will give you a more natural look. They mix your color and use more than one color. No one has one shade or color in their hair, think about it. Also, if you do color your hair use shampoo for color treated hair.! It is all NOT the same. The PH balance is regular shampoo is higher and will strip the color right out. So spend a few extra dollars or you will be wasting your money coloring your hair.
the store dye has just a cover for your hair, and the perxiod percentage is under 4%...in the salon it is close to 30%, it opens up the shaft and lets the color sink into the hair. Box color has a pigment varity. It can be fillers, that stick to the hair, to give color, but washes off after a few washes, Salon pigment goes into the shaft and is held there for a very long period of time....That is why the salon look is much better.
If you have the ability to color your hair yourself, I would recomment going to a beauty supply store and buying color there. They have the salon colors there, and the people who work there will help you in finding what you need. Color doesn't cost a lot, it's the application you pay for.

When you buy a box color, you are taking a risk that the color won't turn out like the picture! It all depends on your shade. Also, depending on how long your hair is you may have to buy more than one box. Some of the box colors aren't ';permanent'; and will not stay in as long (depending on your starting hair color) If you go to a beauty supply store, you will get the same concentration of color as the salon for much less money.

I have bought color at beauty supply stores like Sally Beauty Supply, and the girls there were really helpful and even gave me tips on how to dye my hair, and which colors will work for my hair. The boxed colors are good, but you always take the risk of having it not turn out to what the box color shows. It all depends on the color of your hair at the time you color it.

I have found also that I pay less than a box color of the same brand at the supply store. Boxes like Color Expert are over $20, and you can get the stuff you need for much less. It all depends on what you want to do.
Everything made for the salons are better that's why we can not buy half the products they use!!!!

Are salon hair straighteners a culprit for my difficulty in breathing?

Yesterday, I had my hair straightened- as I had before, but unlike before, I have difficulty breathing now. My throat feels like it's tightening up, but other than that, I'm fine. I'm afraid that it may have been the fumes I inhaled from the straightening chemical, but the last time I had my hair straightened, this did not happen. They used this Lo'real straightener that comes in a pink tube. Please tell me what I can do to remedy this. Thanks! Are salon hair straighteners a culprit for my difficulty in breathing?

I have longish thick wavy hair, i straigtnen it every day, but when i do, it comes out like straw, also i often dont make the back as straight as i want to ... any tips?? please help =]How do i get the hair salon look?
well, are you even conditioning ur hair properly?? before straightening ur hair you should always put like some leave-in-conditioner so that ur hair doesnt dry out. then before you put the flat iron to ur hair spray each piece that ur doing with some sheen spray to keep it from drying nd damaging. dnt overdue it with the sheen spray, juz put a light spray on each piece. this is wut i do for my hair becuz i straighten my hair everyday also nd i have really thick hair that doesnt ever want to cooperate but this lil system works for me. hope this helps! How do i get the hair salon look?
use large clips to keep the front bits up. comb the bits left down and sraighen in small sections. comb again and straighten any frizzy bits. do the same all over letting ur hair down out of the clip gradually. deep condition with hot oil once a week overnight. works 4 me....good luck xx

  • Hair salons that do coontails in celeveland?

    hey.

i was wondering if there were any hair salons,in cleveland, that know how to do coon-tails, and leopard print. i want to do it at a salon because i heard it does less damage to your hair, rather than to do it yourself at home. i have dark hair, and for the colors i want i would have to bleach the spaces in my hair to get the right colors (purple and blue coon tails, white leopard print)

is there any salons in cleveland, or near cleveland, like in parma, or ridge park sqar?Hair salons that do coontails in celeveland?
im not sure but i agree to do it in the solon...go to a solon and ask them if they know what it is and bring a pic of it and if all else fails bring some tape and tape it in stripes and tell them to dye around that

sorry but i hope it looks awesome

Is it cheaper to bring your own hairdye to the hair salon?

is it cheaper to bring the hairdye u bought for the hairdresser to use

or just rocking up there and asking them to color ur hair using their products. Is it cheaper to bring your own hairdye to the hair salon?
if it even was any cheaper at all it would probably only be about 10- 12 dollars, but most of what they charge you for when they color you're hair is their time, because you're taking up about enough time to do 2 other hair cuts when you color your entire head so i doubt that in the end it would be that much cheaper. Is it cheaper to bring your own hairdye to the hair salon?
that's like bringing a ';prime rib'; to a steak house and asking them to cook it for you.If you don;t have money to go to a salon then you should do the coloring at home!!

My regular hair stylist is on vacation. . .have you ever just went to a ';walk-in'; hair salon?

I have a picture of exactly what I want, and it's pretty simple. My regular hair stylist is on vacation. . .have you ever just went to a ';walk-in'; hair salon?
Yes, but you will take your chances even with a picture. It is like anywhere else, some stylists are good, others ore not so good, some are new and some have lots of experience. I would wait until your stylist returns or get a recommendation from someone you know.

good luck to you.My regular hair stylist is on vacation. . .have you ever just went to a ';walk-in'; hair salon?
Yes i have been to a walk in hairdresser. I prefer them more. I mean i don't have a personal hairdresser. If you have the picture of how ur hair should look then just show them and they will cut your hair perfectly.

What products do they use and what products can i use to eliminate frizz and make my hair shiny and softHow can i get my hair straight like the salons do?
Invest in a quality flat iron. For very long hair you can opt for the wider paddle flat iron but the thinner flat irons will give you more flexibility and it works on long and short hair styles. Ask your hair stylist what brand they recommend. Avoid those sold in drug stores if you will be flat ironing regularly. The ones available through your hair stylist or a beauty supply store will last longer and will be less damaging as they have better heating surfaces and more temperature control options.

Invest in a protective spray for your hair. These are sold almost everywhere and they smooth and soften while you flat iron while protecting your hair from thermal damage. This isn't mandatory but it will help.

Wash your hair and condition it as you normally would. Flat ironing hair can dry hair so use a deep conditioner or leave your regular condition on for a few more minutes than usual. Wash your hair thoroughly and make sure your hair doesn't feel stringy or you stayed in the shower/bath too long that made the moisture from the conditioner wash off.

Using a microfiber towel or your regular towel try to get as much moisture out of your hair as possible.

Spray on an instant spray leave-in conditioner.

Use a wide tooth comb to part and comb your hair. If you normally don't have a part do the best you can.

Dry your hair using a hair dryer. Use one of the blow-dryer extensions so you can put the blow-dryer up closer to the hair and brush.

Brush dry hair to eliminate as many knots as possible.

Put the top half of your hair up into a bun.

Divide the bottom half of your hair into small, thin sections. For best results use sections that are 1-2 inches wide and only about 1/2 inch thick.

Spray the hair protective spray over the section of hair and run a comb through it to remove all knots. Hair without tangles will straighten better. The heat protective spray and the leave-in conditioner will usually help with tangles also.

Hold a section of hair with one hand and use the other to clamp the flat iron as close to your roots as possible. Hold the hair firmly in the flat iron.

Pull the flat iron over the small section of hair in one fluid movement. If it isn't completely straight, that's OK, pull it through again.

Don't move jerkily while pulling the flat iron through your hair. It will leave horizontal lines indented in your hair and you will need to go over the hair several more times to remove them. The repeated passes to remove these lines can cause damage to your hair.

Don't be alarmed if you see steam rising from the iron or if you hear a sizzling noise coming from it. The plates are very hot and there may be some moisture left from the wash in addition to the sprays. This is normal.

Continue to move around your head straightening small sections all the way around as you go. Then take down the rest of your hair, tie the bottom half, and straighten that portion.

Examine your work in a mirror to make sure you didn't miss any sections. Don't forget to check the back. Now is the time to go over any missed spots or any place that is particularly frizzy.

Play with your hair to style it. You may need to flat iron pulling the section in another direction to get it out of your face or to help it style a certain way.

Continue to style your hair but avoid spraying water or adding mousse. The water content will cause your hair to curl back up or frizz immediately.

Consider using a curling iron for adding subtle curls or doing sassy flips or simply just wear it straight. Use a hair spray for humidity if you live in a humid area. Your hair will be prone to frizz with the moisture in the air.

Congratulations! You've gone from curly to straight! Enjoy your new style and have fun with it.Add a small amount of silicone based hair shine solution. Add only a few drops and rub between your hands and then smooth over hair. Adding too much is very easy and your hair will look greasy.

Remember your umbrella!Keep an umbrella handy. Rain will undo all your hard work and leave you with a frizzy mess. Also carry a headband with you in the summer to keep the perspiration from your bangs.

Wash your hair and it will return to normal. Repeat steps.

x0x0_LEiHow can i get my hair straight like the salons do?
Go to a local beauty supply store, like Sally's or Ulta and get some professional shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and hairspray. Leave-in conditioner makes your hair very shiny and soft. Chi is a great straightener.

The products my hairstylist uses are:

    Straightener :

Enjoy is an AMAZING product, try these:

    http://www.planetbeauty.com/shopping/displayproduct.asp?product=14816

Leave-in conditioner, try this, this is what I use and it makes my frizzy hair silky smooth:

    http://www.drugstore.com/qxp154013_333181_sespider/sunsilk/hydra_tlc_247_creme.htm

    DIRECTIONS:

Wash your hair with the shampoo and conditioner. Let it air dry or blow dry if you wish. Add the leave in conditioner while you are blowdrying or before you straighten. Straighten your hair when it is completely dry. Finally spray the Enjoy hairspray all over your hair for extra shiny hair. Voila!
wash your hair then take a blow dryer on high and brush your hair while blow drying

when brushing your hair do it in an x shape back and forth over and over till its dry

this is called blowing out your hair and after that you can straighten it .

then i take leave in conditioner i know it sounds funny but use the stuff that's meant for damp hair and just take a little and brush it threw your hair

    good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
get a straightener that has vitamins in it. then, put the top layer of you hair up, and do the under parts. then let the top layers of your hair down and straighten them too. to get it in a messy style, flip your head upside down and it will look great
they se biosilk to make it soft and shiny you can get this at any store that sells hair prodcts. and it doesnt come out as good becase they are pros and know secrets that they wont let you in on
Or get a comb, then get a blow dryer, then use the comb and slowly

blow it on the spot your trying to get straighten, then drag your comb

    down slowly :D
    I would...

    - straighten my hair until it gets as straight as I want it to be

    - then put a little bit of gel on it so it will stay straight.

    hope I helped!
Go back to the salon and ask them what they used on you.
    Paul Mitchell Striaghteners are amazing.
Use a straightening gel or mousse and then straighten it with a conair steam striahgtener =)
straighteners straighten your hair really good
ask the salon pple what they use or jjust straighten ur hair ike 10 times

Difference between an hair salon and barber shop?

Could someone please let me know what is the difference between a hair salon and normal hair cutting shop - say like Supercuts or Great Clips?

Thanks,Difference between an hair salon and barber shop?
1st of all you said ';barber shops';;then you said';normal haircutting shop';!There is only one name for BARBER SHOP...... the term means a place where men/boys go for a normal haircut. Hair Salons.....term means a place where women/men go for hair styling;perms;color etc.Difference between an hair salon and barber shop?
The commonly-thought of difference between a hair salon and a barber shop is that hair salons are for women, barber shops are for men.

And between a salon and a place like Great Clips? Usually salons are more high-class, with a broader range of services by more experienced cosmetologists. Unless they're posing. ;)
Hi.. it seems to be same meaning.. but two different way to spel it.. or just to attract customers...in different way..!! customer satisfaction and attraction.. both shop they just cut our hair.. but in a variety of styles..!!!

In the sence that 'V' loose our hair.. but the shop keeper gains money...!!
i may be wrong, but i think a salon is more for women where they do shampooing and hairdrying, perms, etc.. and a barber shop is where men generally go, for just your basic shave or cut.

dying it yourself, or using sun-in, ive also heard using lemon juice and laying out in the sun worksHow do you lighten your hair with out going to a hair salon?
You can use shampoo that has chamomile because it will be a more subtle approach. When you wash your hair, you need to work it evenly on your head. If you were to use one of those sprays then you will end up with lighter patches. I have also used Johnsons and Johnsons Baby Shampoo, but don't use the newer versions with lavender and things alike, get the original formula.

What is so special about salon hair products?

I just got a new hair style and want to take it to the next level, can anybody tell me what is so special about these expensive shampoos? and maybe recommend some good ones? What is so special about salon hair products?
just try tresemme, its salon brand, but you don't have to go to a hair place to get it, and its soooo much cheaper heres a link

http://www.tresemme.com/classic-care/ind鈥?/a> i'm not sure which of the shampoos you would want, so just pick one, haha. anyway use tresemme, its used by professionals. lolWhat is so special about salon hair products?
my mom does hair for a living and she always says that the expensive shampoos do not work as well as the cheaper ones are the ones you can purchase at a store such as walmart and target.....so i would not spend any money on expensive shampoos because belive it are not they can actually damage your hair sometime because they have extra chemicals...also my hair is very fine and i find that the expensive shampoos just make it frizzy and greasy! so i hope this helps! good luck!
Professional Shampoos are more concentrated so you don't use so much. They do ';usually'; what they say they will. The cheaper shampoos like drugstore shampoos they usually will strip your hair or clog your pores! Sometimes they make your hair fall out. I have had that experience with a couple of drugstore shampoos! I Really like Tigi Bed Head Rock star Shampoo it's for super thick hair and it smells really really really great! Any of the Bed Head line is really good they also have a Shampoo called Brunette Goddess it is really good and smells awesome! It is for Brunette hair it adds shine and keeps the color longer! They have one called Dumb Blonde for Blondes...of course. Moisture Maniac for added moisture. Head Shots helps with damaged hair. I do really like Bed Head each one is for different hair just read on the bottle or ask a professional which one would be best for your hair!

    Hope this helps!!

    Hairstylist/Color Specialist for 5 years
well at first when i tried biolage, my hair was frizzy, but when i got used to it, it looks fine. try infusium, it's a great line. i don't know why people say expensive=better. i tried biolage and biosilk, and personally, i think infusium and pantene works better [u can buy both at walmart] . .
The quality is greater in salon shampoos. Bed Head Is probably the best for styling, But biolage is good for making hair healthy looking.

Is it worth going to the hair salon?

I've never been to a real hair salon before, my sister usually cuts my hair. Is it really worth going? I heard it's pretty risky because you never know what the stylist will do or if you can trust them. I really want to go but not sure where or to what stylist. How do I know I'll get exactly what I want? And can they recommend a hairstyle to match my face shape? Thanks guys!Is it worth going to the hair salon?
Yes, that's the hair stylist's job to tell you what will work for you and make sure you like it. If you are unsure of what you want, start looking through magazines and hair style journals to find something you like and the stylist will be able to interpret that into your hair.

On the other hand, if you don't need to style your hair, keep having your sister cut it. If it is just long and you don't do anything with it anyway, have her trim it for free to keep the ends from splitting. Is it worth going to the hair salon?
Where do you live? If you live in close to Exton, PA I recommend going to see Lesley at Evolution. She is really good and will listen to what you have to say. I have really curly hair and am very picky about what I do with it so I always make sure that the stylist knows exactly what I want before I will let them come anywhere near my hair. If you really don't know what you want to do with your hair get some inspiration from the internet or ask the stylist what she recommends. Also never go to a place like Hair Cuttery, the stylists at places like that never listen to what you have to say they just kind of do what they want, go to a salon that isn't a chain.
It's much more riskier not going to a professional. Hairstylists do what you want them to do, They're not going to go off and chop off all your hair, You just have to give them a detailed vision of what you want, because they're vision may be different from yours. Bring in a picture to show them. It's wayy easier then trying to explain.
it is totally worth going especialy for getting hilights or dying your hair. i go every 6 weeks and i love it she has never given me ugly hair

Help please! Hair Salons in DFW area?

I am looking for a good hair salon to go to....I live in Arlington, but will drive to Dallas or Fort Worth as well. I prefer a hispanic or african-american hair dresser bc I have a weird texture of hair (mixed with black and puerto-rican). Any help is appreciated.Help please! Hair Salons in DFW area?
I live in Arlington also. I now go to a lady named Jennifer (she's half black) to cut my hair. She does an awesome job, but she cuts at her home salon (';Home Cuts';). I'll give you her # if you email me.

But anyway you said you wanted a salon.. Look up ';Salon G';. I used to get my hair done there but it got expensive. You could call and ask who's experienced with ethnic hair. Goood luck.

  • Hair salons specializing in ';scene'; hair?

i want to cut my hair like the whole scene style but i dont want to go to any salon cuz im scared they're going to mess my hair up

so does anyone know of a good salon in harrisburg p.a? or anywhere close.

if not any good tips i can tell a hair stylist if i end up going to any ol salonHair salons specializing in ';scene'; hair?
choppy, blunt random layers, lots of texturizing, rasored, and thinnned.Blunt cut in the nape section and grduated layers in the rest of the hair.Hair salons specializing in ';scene'; hair?
I don't know any salons (my mother cuts my hair) around Harrisburg - since I'm in Robesonia, like an hour away.

Tips?- Bring a picture with you, try to take a couple because there are a lot of scene styles and they can help you pick one that will fit you look.
They don't really have salons like that from what I know. But, if you take in a picture of the style you want they can most likely do it.
Sorry, but there are no hair salons that specialize in that. ';Scene'; hair is just layered, straightened, and teased. ';Scene'; hair is usually cut by the person themselves. If you're afraid to mess up your hair, just go to the salon and get at least 3 layers. And before you get it cut, do you notice how ';scene hair'; is never parted but there's like hair all around? (idk if I'm explaining well..like how guys have to flip their head to the side to get the hair out of their face. You want it like that, then get the bangs cut but not too short.) Make sure your hair is straightened, and then hairspray it all around (get an extra hold hairspray so it'll stick all day.) After that you tease it A LOT and hair spray again. Straighten the tips and you're done. But to really look ';scene'; don't use that label or steal anyone else's hair. Also get some coontails or leopard spots (usually just for girls), but they're hard to do on black hair and just hard to do all together, so you can get some extensions from hot topic or bleach your hair before you do it.

Sorry it's really long..I hope it helps though.

  • Hair Salons in Baltimore?

Okay, part of my hair is breaking off in the back and my mother says that at this point I have no real option but to get it cut so that it can grow back healthier. I'm a bit hesitant about getting my hair cut, but I know that I have to, so I refuse to go to a two-bit wannabe hair salon, like those people that do hair in their own houses. What product makes the most difference for salon hair?

I am still puzzled on how to get my hair as silky as right when I come out from the salon.

Is it the shampoo, conditioner, protecting creme, or the wash you lather and massage in the shampoo.conditioner that makes the most difference?

I straighten my hair with the same flat iron, but it is still poofier and the hair strands are less compacted than when I get it done. .

Any ideas? I was thinking of buying bumble and bumble conditioner. What product makes the most difference for salon hair?
to make my hair silky i put conditioner everywhere not just on the ends...What product makes the most difference for salon hair?
you could try not washing your hair with shampoo, only conditioner

shampoo can dry out your hair, and you should try to wash it only when your hair is really dirty/oily

a leave in conditioner also will make your hair softer

for conditioners both bumble and bumble and Frederic fekkai are good options

70's hair salons in los angeles?

im looking to get a 70's fringe haircut, but want to know if there is any places that do 70's haircuts,if there are any recomendations70's hair salons in los angeles?
    Hi,

I live in the midwest...not Los Angeles, but I also like the 70's fringe. I found the oldest 'barber' that I could find. He does both mens and womens hair. He lived through the seventies, so he knows exactly what I am talking about. He actually had a name for the haircut....he called it 'the Linus'. Wonderful! My hair is fringy and full of body.

    Good Luck,

    Daisy
