Any time you are checking to see if 2 treatments ';clash'; which could cause hair to fall out or fray..What is a Incompatibility test in hair salon?
You do an incompatibility test when you're perming over coloured hair, to make sure the perm solution isn't chemically incompatible with the dye. You do it by placing a cutting of hair in a bowl containing a combination of perm solution and hydrogen peroxide. If there's any heat or fizzing or if the hair dissolves, breaks, or changes colour, you have a positive reaction and you can't use a hydrogen peroxide based perm solution on the customer's hair.

Dyes containing metallic salts are usually to blame.

Standard procedure is to do this for all hair that is 'doubtful', whatever that means. It's much safer from a business point of view to do this every time with every perm job, since the ends of long hair can be up to ten years old. Most clients won't remember if they had their hair dyed in 1998, let alone which dye they used. It's a very cheap (costs about three cents) and quick test and there's no reason not to do it.
